What is Camp Newman like now? | |
|
Standard registration includes dormitory housing with 8 twin sets of bunk beds per dorm with a dedicated bathroom. If this doesn't suit you, you may be able to grab one of the housing upgrades. No beds come with linens, bring your own or rent them from the camp during registration. Dormitory rooms are situated around a beautiful grass field and are 100 ft from the dining hall and 200ft from the event center.
Six meals in all are served from Friday Dinner to Sunday Lunch, with vegetarian and vegan options available. The camp also serves an afternoon refreshment and hosts a smores roast. In addition, snacks are available 24/7. Want to add to the snack table with your own delights? We’d love that! Regardless, you will not go hungry! :-)
If you see a housing upgrade option that you like, it is best to complete registration then, these upgrades go fast. Semiprivate rooms have 2 beds and are shared with another man who also paid for the upgrade. If you wish to designate your roommate there is room on the registration form. Private rooms only have 1 bed and therefore only 1 person pays. These participants do not need to designate a roommate, no one will be checking who is occupying your room.
We endeavor to coordinate ridesharing for participants both for convenience and for our impact on the environment. If you need a ride or wish to provide one, please indicate that information during registration and we will contact you about a week ahead to coordinate ridesharing. If you are registering late or live in a remote rural area, it may not be possible for us to find you a ride but our track record is fabulous.
Around 10 days before the Gathering, you will receive a “Welcome Letter” email with logistical information about the weekend, including directions to the venue, and a recommended list of what to bring (and not bring).
Imagining Desire, Pleasure & Community (see theme presentation)
Life without imagination can seem routine and mundane. The absence of imagination robs us of the desire, pleasure, and community that require imagination. At this gathering, we will cultivate imagination to help each other discover how acceptance beyond tolerance can bring us freedom and greater love. What constitutes desire, pleasure, and community for you is a question of self-discovery, an exploration that spans a lifetime. Explore how imagination can reframe how you experience these fundamental human needs.
We will practice tapping into our imaginations and will have 2 community gathering general sessions that will help us explore this theme. We will imagine ourselves differently, we will imagine our role in the world differently and we will imagine how we can show up differently in community with each other.
Workshop periods are available on Saturday. Imagine how you see desire, pleasure and community differently and create a short interactive workshop to develop the idea! What could you bring to share about, do together, or make fun with?
Let’s start with the chances to dress up:
- The By Request Video Dance. With video walls everywhere we will use them for our dance on Friday night. Look for the opportunity to make your request ahead of time and wear something fun to impress, wow or confuse . Time to peacock.
- Formalish Dinner & Reception. On Saturday, dinner will start with a reception serving mocktails to give you a chance to DRESS up and show off. It's formal in its presentation not in your participation. We mock the formal dinner by desecrating it with all manner of dress or skirt or one piece jumpsuit.
- The Variety Show. Whether you’d like to be in it or just attend looking fabulous, it’s the program where we’re all the stars and it’s is way more festive if half of the spectacle is the audience (though you can certainly come as you are)! Got a talent or a fun idea? Sign up now and Bring your act for the show!
- The Pool Party. Well maybe this is a chance to dress down. Sunday afternoon is always a wet and wild one as we keep our cool being naked at the pool. Unless you are one of the swimsuit fashion show participants then you are still dressing down from the formal gown at dinner.
- and more...
With a theme like Imagining Desire, Pleasure and Community, we invite you to both reserve judgment and open up to others about what is positive in your sexual repertoire. Previously called the Intimacy Space (as if all intimacy is sex or all sex intimate), We hope you will desire to join our community in the "Pleasure Zone." It is available 24/7 and is the appropriate place for sexual activity. (sex, sex, sex... oh did I say a bad word?) If you are as positive about this as we are, help us make it fabulous. You could contribute erotic décor, lighting, a portable glory hole. Contact us at question@TheCMG.org if you have ideas or items to bring; you can also add your touches at the last moment!
Definitely look around on www.TheCMG.org to get a better sense of the organization than we can share here. But the bottom line is that you can expect a warm group of men who welcome more community in their lives, fun together, conversations ranging from silly to heart-centered, time in nature, and new friends both at camp and beyond.
Since the gathering is not Labor Day weekend, we know that many of you need to get back to work. The opening ceremony is Friday after dinner and the closing ceremony is Sunday afternoon folllowed by a pool party. However, there is an option for those who just can't tear themselves away until Monday. Standard registration includes activities from Friday 4:00pm-Sunday 5:00pm (however accommodations must be vacated by 10am on Sunday). Our Extended Stay VIP option includes additional activities through Monday noon (checking out of accommodations at 10am). This option is offered at the cost that the camp charges us for the additional night based on housing.
Extended Stay VIP includes":
- An additional night stay in the same housing you had originally.
- A barbecue dinner on Sunday
- A VIP social reception
- Late night activities
- Monday Brunch
* All offerings subject to change without notice.
