There are times when we are in need of healing. Perhaps our bodies are sick. Or we are overwhelmed by recent events like the gun violence in Las Vegas, Hurricanes and other natural disasters, toxic politics, relationships, money issues or other challenging conditions or circumstances in our life. Or perhaps we are suffering from old wounds, shame, or an innate sense of wrongness as we are estranged from self and community. People, animals, and the earth around us need healing too and that can make us feel powerless. A lack of healing can be dangerous and lead to destructive choices. To put it bluntly, many of us are men over 50 and therefore in a demographic most at risk for loneliness, physical decline, anxiety and depression, and even suicide.

In this workshop, we’ll come together to share our upset as well as our vision of healing. Connecting with each other can be healing in and of itself. We will invoke the power of healing from within and without, shift from victim into healer, and share this heart-centered, compassionate healing energy with ourselves, each other in the circle, and with the world. This workshop may involve light, non-sexual touch with other participants. You may want to bring a notebook and pen/pencil.

 About the Facilitator    

Jamie Simmons is the Curator of the Desert Cities CMG MindSpa Series. He is a California Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. He has an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.  He is also currently serving as statewide CMG President.
